“This is my dream job!” When Adam graduated from NWCS he knew that someday he wanted to come back and teach. He earned a double major at Whitworth University with a BA in History/Social Studies and a BA in Secondary Education. He enjoyed his time student teaching at Lakeside High School, but really wanted to be in a private Christian setting. Adam was hired at NWCS in 2020 and enjoys his students and co-workers so much that on Sundays he has said “Tomorrow I get to go work!”
Adam had many influential teachers during his time as a student at Northwest Christian. Margie Brown, 2nd grade, was very influential in Adam’s life. During his time in her class he wrote that he wanted to be a teacher, and he made personal decisions about how to conduct his life based off of Mrs. Brown’s living testimony and explaining that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. During his junior high years, Adam knew that he wanted to teach at NWCS. Tim Hansen, Cathy Richards, Christina Hilderbrand, and Dan Ferguson were incredible with the young teenagers and he loved the crazy science experiments and memorizing bible verses. In high school the teachers were fun and friendly. Adam loved Marsha Wells and Chris Wells’ English classes. Matt Halpin was the inspiration for Adam’s teaching style. Adam said, “While I did not like math, I loved going to math class!”
Adam often tells people “There were so many amazing teachers that poured into my life academically, socially, and spiritually that I wanted to come back. My dream was to give high school students the same experience my teachers gave me.” Now that Adam is living his dream of teaching history at NWCS and serving as the assistant golf coach alongside Jeff Gullikson, Adam has a new dream: “My new dream is to retire from Northwest Christian Schools. I hope to teach my students’ children one day!”
